For the love of the music…..

Digital Media Wire announced the agenda and speakers for the upcoming Digital Music Forum East to be held at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City, NY on Tuesday, February 26 and Wednesday, February 27, 2008.

Check out the extensive list of companies, heavy hitters and schedule here.

I thought this would be cool to try and go but then I saw the prices... for the two day pass bought before Feb 15th is $800.00….$899.00 to the 25th and then $999.00.

thanks but I’m pretty sure time is on my side…. not that much has changed in the 3 months since this report from JupiterResearch titled “US Music Forecast, 2007-2012″ was released which says digital spending will grow to $3.4 billion over the next five years, while CD sales will continue to decline.

“That means digital music sales will not compensate for lost CD sales in five years,” said David Card, Vice President and Research Director at JupiterResearch. “Nor will they return the overall industry to growth. But digital is where the growth is.”

Now a start-up in Paris called Musinaut claims to have a fresh way of doing things with a format called MXP4. The format allows for a song to be recorded and played back in many different ways, and for extras such as notes, videos and lyrics to be included in the file, as well. Think of it as MP3 on steroids.
