For the love of the music…..

Saw the Music

Posted by T Rex on January 7, 2008

Inspired by Beana’s recent See the Music column on Chris Harford and the Band of Changes I ventured out to both of their shows this weekend in Bucks County, PA. It was an amazing lineup of musicians that treated us to two great nights of music with packed venues that left everyone craving more.

On Friday after 3hrs of music I made a big mistake and left at 1 am and missed what turned out to be a marathon show with them playing until 315 at The Moose Lodge in Doylestown. The lineup Friday night was Chris Harford on lead guitar and vocals, along with Matt Kohut on bass (Amfibian, f-hole); Scott Metzger on guitar and vocals (Rana, Bustle in Your Hedgerow, American Babies); Joe Russo on drums and vocals (Russo Benevento, American Babies, Bustle in Your Hedgerow) along with The Saras (New Hope singers Steph Sanders and Anna Soloway).

On Saturday night at John n Peters in New Hope the band was joined for the entire show by a left hand guitar player from Brooklyn Sharief Hobley and also Mickey of Ween. I was lucky to get a table on the side of the stage and listened to some of the finest guitar players in the northeast. At one point when Bill from Sound of Urchin joined the stage there were 4 guitar players shredding in a space the size of my living room. It was one of the best nights of music I’ve heard in a long time. When Chris Harford or any of these musicians play again make sure you get out and See the Music…….
